An investment in nature is an investment in human well-being

Approach

Nature for Health (N4H) works to reduce pandemics and related health risks by strengthening the environmental aspects of One Health. N4H works in low- and middle-income countries where risk of transmitting disease between animals and humans is high and there are challenges to manage them.

How we work

N4H is a global initiative, working nationally, to mainstream preventative One Health approaches. In partnership with policy makers, experts and other stakeholders, N4H co-develops integrated and coordinated policies, generates and disseminates evidence on links between biodiversity, climate and health, and supports decision makers and other relevant actors to take preventative measures.

N4H brings together multi-sectoral implementation teams, including policy decision makers, technical experts, affected communities and other relevant stakeholders, in each selected location for a needs-based analysis. Systems based approaches co-develop pathways to deliver transformational changes.

Where we work

N4H works in countries and regions where  biodiversity is under threat and there are substantial risks of zoonotic disease spillover.

N4H  takes a phased approach, initially with four or five jurisdictions. N4H promotes the adoption of systemic and participatory approaches to develop local solutions. Initial scoping workshops are held with core government stakeholders from different sectors, before opening up to engage with other critical stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, academia, indigenous peoples and local communities.
